FOUNDER + CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Charles Bongers has lived a lifelong passion for nature and the outdoors as a world-class sailor, mountain climber and tree advocate. As creative director, he has worked, extensively, with a roster of international Fortune 500 companies, leading entrepreneurs and eco-focused organizations to create award-winning, brand communications and design campaigns. In Toronto and Seattle, Charles has worked with large-scale startups to create launch strategies and branding campaigns for industry-changing companies Skytap, Smilebox and Ecobee.
Charles is the author and illustrator of a new children’s book Do Trees Have Mothers? selected as a “Heather’s Pick” at Indigo Books Canada. Narrated by “Nuts” the squirrel and inspired by the science of trees, Do Trees Have Mothers? aims to create a connection to nature in young children, ages 3 to 8 years old. Charles is also illustrator and creative advisor to Wild Entrust/Coaching Conservation, a wildlife conservation trust in Southern Africa dedicated to supporting the long-term viability of threatened wildlife populations and helping children to care about themselves, each other and the natural environment around them.
As former co-creative director of Ogilvy-Toronto and co-founder of Extension Brand Design, Charles led the strategic development of creative campaigns for Nestle, Quaker, Microsoft, World Wildlife Fund and American Express.
