FOUNDER + CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Charles Bongers has lived a lifelong passion for nature and the outdoors as a world-class sailor, mountain climber and tree advocate. As creative director, he has worked, extensively, with a roster of international Fortune 500 companies, leading entrepreneurs and eco-focused organizations to create award-winning, brand communications and design campaigns. In Toronto and Seattle, Charles has worked with large-scale startups to create launch strategies and branding campaigns for industry-changing companies Skytap, Smilebox and Ecobee.

 

Charles is the author and illustrator of a new children’s book Do Trees Have Mothers? (Douglas & McIntyre/Vancouver) launching Arbour Day 2022, at Chapters-Indigo, Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Charles also serves as creative advisor to Wild Entrust/Coaching Conservation, a wildlife conservation trust in Southern Africa dedicated to supporting the long-term viability of threatened wildlife populations and their critical habitats, and to Woodfield True Nature Campus, a nature-focused retreat dedicated to supporting families experiencing chronic illness.

 

As former co-creative director of Ogilvy-Toronto and co-founder of Extension Brand Design, Charles led the strategic development of creative campaigns for Nestle, Quaker, Microsoft, World Wildlife Fund and American Express.
